If you want great hair, the most obvious way to do so is to go to a reputable hairstylist to get professional work done on it (i.e. go to a salon)  However, if you either don’t have the budget for such a trip, or simply want to try and get great looking hair from the comfort of your own home, there are definitely ways to do that, and specifically do that without breaking the bank.

The first thing to remember when it comes to having great hair is that beautiful hair needs to be healthy as well. You cannot have beautiful hair if your hair is damaged. Even if such damage may seem invisible to the naked eye when it comes to individual hair follicles, when you look at your hair as a whole, such damage is definitely noticeable.

To prevent damaged hair, it all starts with your shower routine. Make sure to use a reputable shampoo and conditioner, and also if possible try to use cold water rather than hot water, as the latter can slowly damage hair over time. It’s not a total game changer if you can’t stomach showering in cold water, but it is definitely something you should consider if you want that extra edge when it comes to your hair.

Drying your hair after a shower should involve lightly patting the hair dry rather than aggressively rubbing your towel against your head to dry your hair that way. And unless you are in a rush to be somewhere, definitely do not use a hair dryer to dry your hair, as that is a surefire way to damage your hair due to the extreme heat of the hair dryer.

Instead, let your hair dry naturally by just leaving it out in the open air. This will not only keep your hair from getting damaged but will help create a beautiful glow to your hair that would not be present if you were to dry your hair with a hair dryer.

While your hair is drying, or perhaps after it has dried completely, the next thing to consider is how you brush your hair. While many women believe that all hairbrushes are the same, that is simply not true. So be sure to check out the latest hairbrushes from top brands (our personal favorite is Spornette) and start incorporating it into your haircare routine immediately. The exact hairbrush you use can make a big difference in not just how your hair looks, but also the overall health of your hair as well, so make sure to not neglect what hairbrush you use if you want not just beautiful hair, but healthy hair as well. In fact, if you want to look for a wet hairbrush as well, you can use that specifically in the shower to help keep your hair from getting tangled, which will only make things easier for your dry hairbrush later on.

Although there are obviously a lot of other tools that you can use to style your hair such as curling irons or hair straighteners, or even hair dye in some cases, what we detailed above are the very basics in terms of achieving great hair as a woman. If you have those basics in place and stick to them each and every day, you will always have a great starting point when it comes to not just the look and feel of your hair, but the actual health of it as well. And at that point, you are definitely free to take things further by going to a professional hairstylist to take your hair to the next level, assuming you have the means. But even if you don’t have the means, maintaining a solid haircare routine at home is all it really takes to achieve great, if not absolutely perfect hair!
